I know what’s it like to have your best friend move to another state. Someone you’ve seen for most of your lifetime to someone you get to see once a year. It’s difficult knowing someone that was like a sister to you is now miles away and the only way to communicate with each other is through via phone and social media.

At first the realization that your best friend is moving hits you hard in the face. All the memories start to flashback through your head. The starting of sixth grade together to the ending of eighth grade together. All the days where you didn’t spend time with your best friend or you guys been arguing seems dumb when you look back. Why? Because who knows when your best friend is going to move.

Starting high school without your best friend is probably the hardest thing ever at first. When we got our foothill letters in the mail telling us whether we got accepted or not. It was a horrible feeling when I got accepted and she didn’t but she was still happy for me. Then a few months later getting told my best friend was moving and I thought highschool itself was going to be terrifying. It turned out that high school wasn’t bad as I thought it would be.

In the end we forgot the fact that we were a few miles from each other and focused about the present. Crying over the situation was useless considering she wasn’t going to magically appear. We still manage to talk every single day and believe it or not sometimes it does feel like she’s here beside me laughing about random things just like before. A few miles can’t or shouldn’t break a friendship up.
